Palo Alto is Awarded “Best Green Launch of the Year” By the Drinks Business

For its “Enjoy Wine, Go Solar” campaign, which was implemented in 2017 and had positive outcomes in the community, Palo Alto was awarded one of the 12 top awards at the prestigious Green Awards 2017 of the English magazine The Drinks Business: “The Drinks Business Best Green Launch”.

As a team, we are very proud of this award and the steps we have taken together in terms of sustainability. In an increasingly fragmented, competitive and dynamic industry, it is often challenging to stop and think about the environment and the community. In Palo Alto we seek to go against this trend, taking steps to help our environment and contribute to a cause that we believe is everyone’s responsibility,” explains Martín Cuthbert, Marketing Manager of Quinta de Maipo and who attended the ceremony to receive the award in London.

In March of this year, Palo Alto launched the “Enjoy Wine, Go Solar” campaign, an innovative program consisting of the installation of 16 photovoltaic panels, a three-phase inverter and three heat pumps at the Santa Laura de Lo Figueroa School, in Maule Valley. Through this implementation, it was possible to provide hot water and considerably reduce the school’s expenses in electricity, benefiting more than 200 students, teachers and families with clean and renewable energy.

This project is part of the winery’s sustainable strategy started in 2015 with the “Bosque Palo Alto Patagonia” campaign, where more than 10,000 trees were planted to contribute to the reforestation of the Chilean Patagonia. Another important implementation was the “Enjoy Wine, Give Water!” campaign launched in 2016, through which the winery helped different locations in Chile with poor access to drinking water, installing water towers and distributing millions of liters of this vital resource to thousands of families.

These initiatives are concrete steps in Palo Alto’s commitment to sustainability, hoping to be a contribution both in those places where it carries out its productive activity, and in the most distant areas of the country.
